Google has recently announced its this year’s flagship smartphone Pixel 2 XL along with the announcement of a bouquet of other products at its headquarters. Not only that, the past month was equally happening with the Apple announcing its latest series of iPhones together with the Apple iPhone X and Apple iPhone 8. Till the time both the smartphones arrive in full glory to Indian consumers, let’s take a look at the comparison of the newly launched Apple iPhone 8 and Google Pixel 2 XL.
Starting with the dimensions first, both the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and Google Pixel 2 XL measure nearly the same in length and breath, however the iPhone 8 Plus is nearly 0.40mm slimmer than the Google Pixel 2 XL. iPhone 8 Plus is also heavier than the Pixel 2 XL by approx. 27grams.
The Apple iPhone 8 Plus features a 5.50-inch display, while the Pixel 2 XL comes powered with a 6-inch screen. Surprisingly the iPhone only comes with a Full HD (1920×1080) pixels resolution in comparison to the 1440×2880 pixels resolution display on the Google Pixel 2 XL.
Chipset and OS
We are aware that both the smartphones pack completely different SoC architecture as well as the operating system. But the best part is that both Google Pixel 2 XL and Apple iPhone 8 Plus are powered by the best processors available in market till date. Also the architecture of their respective SoCs have a neighbouring form factor as well as performance.
The Apple iPhone 8 Plus is powered by a hexa-core Apple A11 Bionic chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage. Pixel 2 XL on the other hand sports a 1.9GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal storage. You can purchase the smartphones in different storage options while none of them come with expandable storage.
Also, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is running on iOS 11, while the Google Pixel 2 XL features the Android 8.0 Oreo OS.
Camera department could be intricate. As till the date Google Pixel 2 XL wasn’t announced we thought that the Apple iPhone X had the best camera. However, the DXO rating speak of a story which is completely upside down and is totally in favour of the Pixel.
The Apple iPhone 8 Plus comes packed with a dual camera setup while the Google Pixel 2 Plus comes with a single shooter. The iPhone 8 Plus features Dual 12MP camera with 28mm lens at f/1.8, while the Pixel 2 XL incorporates a 12.2 MP camera at f/1.8. Selfie shooter on the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is a 7MP camera, while that on Pixel 2 Plus is an 8MP one.
Battery is one the most important segment when it comes to comparing the premium segment smartphones. The Google Pixel 2 again packs a bigger battery of capacity 3520mAh in contrast to the 2691mAh battery packed on the Apple iPhone 8 Plus.
