After receiving rumours of a flip phone for some time, South Korean tech giant Samsung unveiled its new flip phone W2018 in China.  The smartphone sports a premium design with dual displays and wide f1.5 aperture in its 12-megapixel camera on the rear. As of now the company hasn’t given any hints on the pricing of its new smartphone, however the top-class build quality and exceptionally wide camera lens hints that it may fall under the premium category.

Starting with the design, the Samsung W2018 comes with dual displays and sports a combination of glass and metal body design. It has a 4.2- inch Super AMOLED front display and on the rear side is a 4.2-inch full HD inner display sporting a Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Samsung W2018 Full Specifications

As for hardware, the Samsung W2018 is powered by a Snapdragon835 SoC paired with 6GB RAM. The smartphone will be available in two storage models- Extreme Edition with 64GB of internal storage and the Collector Edition with 256GB of internal storage. The W2018 is coming in Elegant Gold and Platinum variants with both running on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

As for optics, the Samsung W2018 features a 5-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel rear camera with exceptionally wide f1.5 aperture and OIS feature. The f1.5 aperture can capture bright images in low light conditions and also allows the users to create bokeh effect with its single lens. However, while clicking pictures in normal light, the camera will automatically switch to f/2.4 aperture mode.

The Samsung W2018 packs a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear side of the device with a dedicated Bixby button. The smartphone is backed by a 2300mAh battery and sports USB Type-C port.

Alongside the Samsung W02018, the company is also rumoured to be working on a zero-bezel smartphone. With zero-bezels we mean that the phone will have no notch or bezels, only display bending at 180 degrees and stretching till the back of the phone. This also means that the phone could get rid of the home button, come with a better Iris scanner which Samsung is currently working on and may also come with edge gestures.
