While it’s been nearly a year since Xiaomi unveiled the next generation of smartphones, it feels like other manufacturers are following the trend in a similar manner, however delayed.

The keys are on screen and the fingerprint scanner is placed at the back of the smartphone.

Camera

Xiaomi has reduced the megapixel count this time, however the camera comes with larger pixel size to deliver better picture quality. The rear camera is trimmed down to 12-megapixel Sony IMX-386 camera sensor now compared to the 16-megapixel sensor on the original Mi Mix. It uses 1.25μm pixels with 4-axis optical image stabilization to capture clearer and more stable videos. The camera has a 5-piece f/2.0 aperture which is made to capture bokeh photos. The camera can record 4K videos at 30fps, however still retains a single camera sensor.

The front camera lens is smaller at 5-megapixel and can record Full HD 1080p videos. The user can also live beautify while doing video chats on the go.

Operating System

The Mi Mix 2 is the first smartphone to come with the MIUI 9 which recently received its third round of beta testing. The MIUI 9 is based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS with no information coming for the Android 8.0 Oreo in near future.
